CDC has created some great community action program guides to facilitate physical activity. When I tested these, I could "Control, click" on the underlined words and get connected to the pdf booklets. Once you reach the booklet sites, click on save as a blank file and you will have it. You may have to close the bookmarks file that opens on the left. Guides Offer Tips on Increasing Community Activity Three action guides on promoting physical activity in the community offer resources and key steps to establishing a community-based walking group program, working with schools to increase physical activity among children and adolescents in physical education classes, and developing a community trail and promoting its use among youth and adults. The guides, part of The Community Health Promotion Handbook: Action Guides to Improve Community Health, translate evidence-based recommendations into the necessary "how to" guidance for implementing effective community-level health promotion strategies. Although the handbook is designed primarily to assist public health practitioners in implementing evidence-based practices, they are appropriate for additional audiences such as health care providers, advocates, policy makers, community and business leaders, community-based organizations, educators, and others interested in improving health in their communities. APTA encourages PTs and PTAs to be promoters and advocates of physical activity. Developed through a collaborative effort between Partnership for Preventions and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), these implementation guidelines have emerged from the experiences of the 40 communities supported by CDC's Steps Program, which is creating models for how local communities can act to address chronic diseases.
